Our Values

Our Mission Statement

Duchess Nursery supports all our children through the formative years to become confident, happy and considerate. We provide children with a nurturing and stimulating environment where their individuality is celebrated.  This allows lots of fun and learning through play, whilst preparing for big school.

As a nursery we:

Ensure a warm, caring and safe environment where our babies and children’s individual needs are supported allowing them to flourish into independent, confident learners who are respected and valued.

Encourage children to care for, enjoy and show interest in the community and world around them.

Work in partnership with our parents; enabling children to reach their full potential, beginning their educational journey in a positive and secure way.

Create a happy place for all who are part of it and maintain an environment of exploration and self-evaluation, fostering both motivation for and a love of learning.

Offer carefully planned activities and opportunities, allowing our babies and children to progress successfully through the Early Years Foundation Stage, focusing on learning through play.

Support diversity and welcome all children recognising that each child’s learning journey is unique and individual.

Our Nursery Promises

At Duchess Nursery, we embed Fundamental British Values into our daily nursery life. Within our nursery settings, this translates as caring for our friends and those around us as well as our environment.  One way we do this is through our nursery ‘promises’ – the children can relate to a promise and understand that we really try to live by these guidelines.
We promise we will try to remember to…

  • Be kind to others
  • Share and take turns
  • Use listening ears
  • Use an inside voice
  • Help tidy up
  • Use walking feet in the nursery.

These promises are strengthened through positive praise, group reward charts and stickers. The promises are encouraged from the youngest to the oldest children. Once it is possible, the younger children are encouraged to pick up their toys at tidy up time. Our oldest children are encouraged to follow all the promises and encourage others to do so as well. We believe this will help them grow into considerate children with respect for others.
